Wires and cables play an essential role in the communication industry transmitting information signals between geographically separated points by currents of various frequency signal. There are different kinds of cables used within this sectors, including:
- Telephone (Twisted wire pairs)
- Local Area Network (LAN)
- Coaxial conductors
- Optical fibre
One of the feature of communication cables is that they operate at high frequency and at a small voltage and current.
Telecom cables are made of metal or optical fibre. SAMP produces machinery and equipment for metal telecom cables, which in turn may be subdivided into the categories of coaxial cables or multi-pair cables. The type of cable applied depends on the frequency of usage. Metal telecom multi-pair cables are produced using drawing and insulating lines at the same time (tandem solution) where the advantage is given by the high production speed and the final elevated cable quality level up to LAN Cat. 8. These lines combine drawing and extrusion technology in a single solution, exploiting the technical synergies available at SAMP and enabling customers to benefit from working with a single supplier that develops and produces the whole line in-house. The extrusion of physically expanded materials (obtained by nitrogen injection) increases the speed of signal transmission, and similar technology is also applied to insulation with polyethylene and fluoropolymers. When it comes to fluoropolymers, users not only reap great technological benefits, but they also save in terms of polymer costs.
Additional industrial processes should be supplied by SAMP as wire bunching lines and final cable sheathing lines in order to apply protecting tape before jacketing and cable marking with all product info needed.
