A global revenue that more than doubles in just one year: from €12.9 million in 2021 to €29.3 million in 2022. In Italy alone, it even increased tenfold: from €1.5 million in 2021 to €15 million last year. From 57 to 88 employees in a year and a half, full-scale production and orders resumed (with current market prospects estimating orders of around €50 million in 2023), and a recent agreement with a Franco-Belgian company to expand the portfolio with a new integrated line of products to compete in the international market.

With all positive indicators and a record number of new hires, SAMP S.r.l. leaves behind the uncertainties of the years between 2019 and 2021, last but not least the bankruptcy of the Maccaferri Industrial Group and the concomitant effects of the pandemic.

After the pre-bankruptcy agreement procedure that took place in July 2021, HVD III (now SAMP S.r.l.) - part of the Swiss Group HVD Partners - acquired the business branch comprising intellectual property, trademarks, know-how, and the personnel of SAMPSISTEMI, the historic multinational group based in Bologna.

A worldwide leader in machines for producing wires and electrical cables

SAMP successfully continues the design and manufacture of innovative and high-performance precision machines, including spare parts and support services, supplying major global companies producing copper and aluminum wires and cables. The company founded in 1936 keeps having an overall positive impact on the industry.

Workforce growth of over 60%, with hires in all departments

The number of new hires (+31) demonstrates the willingness to restart and develop beyond pre-crisis levels. From October 2021 up to today, SAMP S.r.l.'s workforce has grown by over 60%, increasing from the original 57 employees of SAMPSISTEMI to 88 employees as of April 2023, and additional hires are planned in the short term. These professionals will contribute to all departments, with a balanced distribution between production, design, administration, and management.

The global headquarters remains at the Bentivoglio production facility

A significant number of the new hires come from Bentivoglio or neighboring municipalities, indicating that SAMP S.r.l. intends to continue growing over time while firmly maintaining its headquarters in the Bologna area and reaffirming its role as a historic industrial asset of the region. SAMP, in continuity with the past, has confirmed its headquarters and one of its main production sites in Bentivoglio (BO), occupying an area of approximately 8,000 square meters for production and over 800 square meters for its offices.

The Bentivoglio headquarters globally coordinate all activities carried out at Samp USA, SAMP China, and SAMP DO BRASIL, the latter two also being production sites. Currently, the group has around 200 workers worldwide. SAMP serves customers from all over the world (with 95% of orders coming from abroad) operating in the energy, automotive, infrastructure, construction, data, and transportation sectors, offering technical innovation and engineering excellence.

The agreement with Gauder & Co. to provide a complete range of machines

A recent agreement between SAMP and the Belgian company Gauder & Co. allows SAMP to utilize Pourtier technology for the production of low and medium-voltage rotating machines. With this agreement, SAMP can offer its customers a complete and integrated line of machines, ranging from wire drawing to cable extrusion and rotating machines for wire and cable production.

CEO Ceglia: "Mutual collaboration with trade unions was crucial for the relaunch"

"After the acquisition by HVD Partners, SAMP not only managed to retain long-standing employees and customers relationships, but quickly devised a growth and development plan that quickly bore fruit," says Teodoro Ceglia, CEO of SAMP. "It is not common to see an increase of over one-third of a company's staff in just a few months. The excellent relationship with the trade unions has been helpful: mutual collaboration has been crucial in tackling the relaunch after the new ownership. In 2022 we already reached an agreement with the trade unions for an incentivized overtime plan to cope with the surplus of orders received. The many hires in recent months confirm our serious commitment to growth and assure our long-standing customers that they can trust the brand and new entity that emerged after the acquisition. Today, after almost a century of activities, we can proudly say that SAMP is alive and well, with a long-term commitment to being an asset for the Bologna region and a global reference point in its industry."
